Language School

The language school in Iquique was founded in 1980 by a Swiss citizen and is located in the center of Iquique, close to the beach. Students from all over the world come to this language school. In addition to Spanish, English, German, French, Portuguese, Russian and Mandarin Chinese are also taught. This gives you the opportunity to meet Chilean language students as well.

Lessons

The lessons are divided into listening, speaking, reading and writing. These 4 elements are conveyed in a practical way, with the main focus on communication. Each course has two to three teachers who will practice the different elements with you. The entire course program is divided into 6 different language levels.

The teachers are all native speakers, who have lived abroad and therefore know the difference between the language in Spain, Mexico and South America.

About the City

Iquique is an illustrious seaside resort and sea port on the edge of the driest desert in the world, the Atacama Desert. Enormous sand dunes are on the outskirts and offer visitors a fantastic panorama. In the largest free trade zone in South America you will find beautiful, long sandy beaches, a tax-free shopping center, adventure sports, warm, guaranteed rain-free weather and a remarkable cultural opportunity.

The center is reminiscent of Miami Beach, but there are also poorer areas on the outskirts of the city. There are about ten flights a day to the capital Santiago de Chile. Like almost any other place in Chile, Santiago can also be reached by bus.

For all sports lovers and sun worshipers, Iquique is the perfect place to learn Spanish. The city on the Pacific is known for its great sandy beaches and all year round sunny, warm weather. There are also numerous opportunities for activities such as surfing, sailing, paragliding, diving, sandboarding as well as cultural excursions to ancient saltpeter mines and ghost towns in the desert – UNESCO World Heritage Site! It is therefore not surprising that you will find many backpackers and tourists in the city.
